HOOT OWL PIANOÂ STUDIO
"Then nightly sings the staring owl, Tu-whit; Tu-who, a merry note"-William Shakespeare

MY STORY
A Natural Piano Instructor
Hoot Owl Piano Studio was named in honor of Elsie's beloved grandmother, Bea, and her love for owls, which she passed on to Elsie...

Elsie has been teaching private piano lessons since 2003. She has enjoyed working with students of all ages and abilities.

As a proud Air Force spouse, Elsie has had the opportunity to teach all over the world. She began teaching in Rhode Island, where she also accompanied and performed on both piano and clarinet. She is currently teaching at her home studio in the Kaiserslautern area, Rhineland Pfalz, Germany.

Besides playing the piano, Elsie enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband and two sons.

BEGINNER PIANO LESSONS
For ages 4 to adult, beginner piano lessons teach students to read music and encourage a love for the piano. Lessons will be adapted to each student. I love incorporating off-the-bench activities and ear training games for little ones, and use the Faber series of method books.

INTERMEDIATE PIANO LESSONS
I design each lesson I offer according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their needs. Intermediate learners will focus on method, technique, theory, and ear training.
FAQ
Helpful Information
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
My home studio is in the Kaiserslautern area, Rhineland Pfalz, Germany.
I also teach online via ZOOM.
WHAT IS THE LESSON RATE?
My rate is $25 per 30 minute weekly lesson. Payment is made by the first lesson of each month. Students should purchase lesson books and other recommended supplies.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I PRACTICE?
I suggest beginning students ages 4-6 to practice at least 10 minutes daily. Beginning students age 7 and older are to practice at least 15 minutes daily. More experienced students should practice at least 30 minutes daily. A regular daily practice routine is important for progress!
DO I NEED A PIANO?
Yes, you will need a quality instrument to practice on at home. A touch-sensitive keyboard with weighted keys is sufficient if you do not have access to an acoustic piano.
Any books used for your lesson will be purchased by the student.
